The Washington Nationals placed catcher Wilson Ramos on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring that he suffered Saturday while running on a groundout, the team announced Sunday.
Ramos, 25, who played in only 25 games last year because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament, was hitting .300 with two homers in the first two weeks of the season.
Kurt Suzuki is expected to take over behind the plate while Ramos is out.
The Nationals also recalled catcher Jhonathan Solano, 27, from triple-A Syracuse. He hit .314 with two home runs and six RBI for the Nationals in limited duty last year.
