The Washington Nationals placed right-handed pitcher Brad Lidge on the 15-day disabled list on Friday with an abdominal wall strain.
To make room for Lidge, the club announced it recalled right-handed pitcher Ryan Perry from Class AAA Syracuse.
Lidge has two saves and a 5.14 ERA in seven relief appearances this season with Washington.
Lidge is eligible to come off the DL on May 7 because the move is retroactive to April 22.
Perry went 1-0 with two saves and a 2.00 ERA in eight relief appearances with Syracuse this season.
Perry was a first round draft choice of the Detroit Tigers in 2008. The Nationals acquired him last December.
