Today's NASCAR Number is this week's daily double:
2: The number of drivers who can lock themselves into the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup with a victory in Saturday night's Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond International Raceway. Kasey Kahne and Kyle Busch can clinch a Chase spot by winning the race - no matter what else happens. In the case of the six other drivers still mathematically eligible - Jeff Gordon, Marcos Ambrose, Ryan Newman, Joey Logano, Carl Edwards and Paul Menard - a victory doesn't guarantee a Chase spot, though, if Tony Stewart remains 10th in the standings, Gordon, Ambrose, Newman or Logano would secure a berth with a win.
1: The number of times a driver has qualified for the Chase by winning the fall race at Richmond. It happened in 2004, the first year of NASCAR's playoff format. Jeremy Mayfield crossed the finish line a whopping 4.928 seconds ahead of Dale Earnhardt Jr. at the end of a fuel-mileage race - a rarity at Richmond.
