Bordeaux (AFP) - Argentinian striker Emiliano Sala has swapped Bordeaux for their Ligue 1 rivals Nantes as the Canaries move to further strengthen an attack that lacked firepower last season.

The eight-time French champions announced that Sala, 24, had signed a five-year contract at the Stade de la Beaujoire after agreeing to move from their Atlantic derby rivals for a fee of around one million euros (£696,000, $1.08m).

Sala never managed to make the breakthrough at Bordeaux and spent the second half of last season on loan at Caen.

His arrival follows that of Icelandic international Kolbeinn Sigthorsson, who joined from Ajax on a five-year deal earlier this month.

Nantes had the worst attack in Ligue 1 last season, scoring just 29 goals in 38 games.
