Monta Ellis scored 23 and the Dallas Mavericks took down the Washington Wizards, 87-78. Dallas (19-13) is now on a three-game winning streak.
Ellis shot 7-18 from the field and 9-10 from the free throw line. Jose Calderon also contributed for Dallas, finishing with 11 points and 6 rebounds. Despite the loss, John Wall scored 22 points for Washington on 8-18 shooting (1-6 on 3-point attempts), in addition to going 5-5 from the free throw line. He also added 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Marcin Gortat added 12 points and 5 rebounds and Trevor Booker finished with 10 points and 19 rebounds.
The Wizards posted an eFG% of just 40.3%, including 20.8% from 3-point range. This year, they are winless (0-5) when they record marks below 45% and 30% in those respective categories. On the other hand, the Mavericks are 4-1 when holding their opponents to such low percentages.
This drops Washington (14-15) to 0-2 versus Dallas on the season.
