As far as Saint John Sea Dogs coach Gerard Gallant is concerned, his team hasn't earned a single laurel yet, even with a 2-0 series lead over Victoriaville. (Moncton Times & Transcript)

Consecutive penalties in overtime helped seal Brandon's fate in a Game 2 loss to Calgary in Game 2 of the WHL Eastern Conference final. Winning helped Calgary erase the memory of letting a 2-0 lead get away on the road. (Brandon Sun, Calgary Herald)

Not major junior, but some bad craziness is going down in the ANAVET Cup series, the Western Canada championship between the La Ronge Ice Wolves and Dauphin Kings.

"Nearly every member of the MJHL championship squad, as well as head coach and GM Marlin Murray, experienced flu-like symptoms following their post-game meal on Saturday night in La Ronge, Sask.

" ... Game 3 is slated for Tuesday night in Dauphin, but Murray didn’t rule out a delay if a large portion of his team isn’t able to play.

" 'Obviously I’m real concerned about the three players on IV, but we have 13 other guys that are not feeling real good. It’s flu-like symptoms,' Murray said. 'If there’s a couple guys (who can’t play), we have a strong AP (affiliated player) list where we can call up some players. But to replace 16 guys is unheard of.' "

The irony is Dauphin is hosting the RBC Cup, making the outcome of the series redundant since both teams have qualified for the Junior A championship. (Winnipeg Sun)

Last but not least, since both WHL semifinal series are tied 1-1, it's apropos to let people know Colby Cosh has some words for those who would make something out of the statistical fluke of all playoff series in a league being tied after two games.

(Now, what if every NHL series is tied after four games?)
