FC Dallas will look to fix its recent form wobble against a New York Red Bulls side that has been resurgent in recent weeks.
The Hoops surged to the top of the league standings with four wins from their first five games, but have slipped up and lost two of their last three. The Seattle Sounders are now ahead of FCD thanks to superior goal difference. New York's season has taken the opposite track: after starting the season with six winless games, the Red Bulls won two matches at home and came back against Columbus to earn an impressive point away.
The strength in Dallas's attack comes from its diverse threats. Six FCD players have scored multiple goals this season, and no player has found more than three. New York's threats are more evident, with Bradley Wright-Phillips scoring five of the team's 13 total goals, and Thierry Henry accounting for three with two assists.
Dallas hasn't fared well against New York in recent years. The Texas side has won just twice in their last ten meetings, while the Red Bulls edged the only encounter between the two sides last season 1-0 thanks to an own goal from Dallas midfielder Erick.
Making matters worse for Dallas, Zach Loyd and Michel will both miss the game through suspension, adding to the injury absence of Kellyn Acosta (patella avulsion fracture), while George John (R knee) and Andres Escobar (lower back sprain) are both listed as questionable.
Questionable for New York are former Toronto FC pair Bobby Convey (hamstring strain) and Richard Eckersley (R ankle sprain), while only Marius Obekop (hamstring strain) is definitely ruled out.
