MLB roundup: White Sox coach ejected before first pitch
Chicago White Sox bench coach Mark Parent was ejected during Sunday's pregame lineups exchange with umpires.
Parent was ejected by crew chief Jerry Layne before first pitch against the Texas Rangers.
No reason was immediately given for the ejection but the White Sox did have some problems with umpires during Friday's game.
It is the second time this season and third of his coaching career that Parent has been tossed from a game.
Friday, White Sox manager Robin Ventura was ejected by third base umpire Greg Gibson after a ball hit by the Rangers' Ian Kinsler got trapped under padding and was ruled in-play. Kinsler ran around the bases for an inside-the-park home run.
---Los Angeles Angels manager Mike Scioscia denied that there is a rift between him and general manager Jerry Dipoto.
FoxSports.com reported Saturday that owner Arte Moreno may fire Scioscia and/or Dipoto by the end of the year because of their ongoing philosophical differences.
Scioscia said Saturday night that there is no rift.
"There's no philosophical differences," he said. "Jerry and I are certainly, as far as our baseball philosophies, in line."
--- Oakland A's outfielder Josh Reddick, who spent four weeks on the disabled list earlier this season with a sprained right wrist, left Sunday's game against Baltimore after aggravating that injury on a swing, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
Reddick is hitting just .215 with 10 home runs and 46 RBI.
--Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Matt Moore, who has been sidelined since July 28 with a sore left elbow, threw a simulated game Saturday and is expected to rejoin the rotation later the week, the Tampa Tribune reported.
---Cincinnati Reds left-hander Tony Cingrani was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a lower back strain. His DL stint is retroactive to August 21.
Greg Reynolds was called up to make a spot start Sunday.
Cingrani is 6-3 with a 2.76 ERA this season.
---Boston Red Sox pitcher Clay Bchholz was scheduled to make his first rehab start on Sunday with Low-A Lowell and is likely to make a second start on Friday, the Boston Herald reported.
If things go well in those two starts, Buchholz, who is 9-0 with 1.71 ERA this season, may return Sept. 4. He has not pitched in a major league game since June 8 because of neck and shoulder issues.
