Kyle Rudolph had a big day receiving, but it wasn't enough to avoid a crushing loss for the Vikings against the Panthers, 35-10, at home.
Matt Cassel finished 32 for 44 with 241 yards, one touchdown and two picks. Cam Newton had a better game for the Panthers, and wound up 20 for 26 with 242 yards passing, four touchdowns (3 pass, 1 rush) and no interceptions.
Adrian Peterson gained 62 yards on 10 carries in addition to three receptions for 21 yards. Rudolph was a leading receiver, hauling in nine balls for 97 yards with a score.
The Minnesota defense gave up 131 yards rushing and 236 passing. They brought down Newton for one sack.
Panthers wide receiver Brandon LaFell had a big game, putting up 107 receiving yards and one touchdown. After Newton, he was the top performer for Carolina. Running back DeAngelo Williams was also solid with 64 rushing yards and 53 receiving.
Next week, the Vikings head to East Rutherford to face the Giants (0-6) while the Panthers host the Rams (3-3).
