The 2014 Major League Baseball All-Star Game was awarded Wednesday to Minneapolis.
"This is the right thing to do and this is the right place to be," MLB Commissioner Bud Selig said in a press conference at Target Field.
A number of former Twins players were on hand for the announcement, including Hall of Famer Rod Carew.
The Twins have hosted two prior All-Star Games: in 1985 at the Metrodome and in 1965 at the old Metropolitan Stadium.
Next year's game will be held in New York City at the Mets' Citi Field.
