Written off all week by even the most devoted fans, the Miami Dolphins looked like an actual NFL football team for the first time on Sunday afternoon. Coming to play, the Dolphins shocked fans and media alike with their 30-15 home victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.

Perhaps it was the all-healthy starting offensive line. Perhaps it was the arrival of the rushing attack. Heck, maybe the result of the game can be placed on the shoulders of Ryan Tannehill who played his first mistake-free game of the campaign. Whatever it was, is sure feels good to earn a win and potentially get back on the right track.
The victory also serves to show that head coach Adam Gase is the right man for the job. Following the team’s 1-4 start, some fans had already began to doubt Gase’s skill as a head coach. With this victory, it is unlikely Gase will be questioned again this season no matter the results of the remaining contests.
To me, the most important factor in this game was having Mike Pouncey, Ja’Wuan James, Brandon Albert, Jermon Bushrod, and Laremy Tunsil all healthy and starting along the offensive line. It was the first time this season that all five had been healthy and starting and boy did their skills show.
Not only did quarterback Ryan Tannehill play a solid game but the rushing attack finally made it’s presence known. Led almost exclusively by Jay Ajayi, the Dolphins running game totaled 222-yards of offense and three touchdowns on the afternoon. For Ajayi, he single handily had 204-yards and two touchdowns on the day.
On defense, the team rebounded from an extremely subpar week against the Titans, holding the Steelers offense to just 297-yards and forcing two turnovers. Knocking out Big Ben for a period at the end of the first half also likely helped their cause and allowed the team to build momentum as it entered the second half of play.
Overall, it was a stellar performance from everyone involved in Miami this week. If they can keep it up in the coming weeks, a respectable record, season and even potentially a playoff campaign may still be in the Miami Dolphins future this season.
