Mike Tannenbaum appears to be a fan of Home Run trades. Making big trades a normality during the Miami Dolphins offseason since his arrival, this offseason could provide the biggest addition to the team. Looking to bring in a starting cornerback through trade much like the team did last season to acquire Byron Maxwell, even bigger names could be on the horizon for Miami.

With the team reportedly interested in making one of these big time trades, two players that received name drops in articles about the potential move include Broncos corner Aqib Talib and Seahawks star Richard Sherman. That is correct, two huge name corners in the league right now. To their credit, both players have one connection or another with this team.

Coaching for the Denver Broncos the same year that Talib arrived in town, head coach Adam Gase and Talib have a connection. While Gase was the offensive coordinator that season in Denver, he and Talib may know each other just by the fact that they were both in Denver together.

Richard Sherman on the other hand would share a connection with current Miami Dolphins cornerback Byron Maxwell. Both were members of Seattle’s Legion of Boom and both were members of the Seahawks team that won the Super Bowl in 2013 and lost the big game to those pesky Patriots the very next season.

With these types of connections, it is possible that the Miami Dolphins could make serious moves to trade for either player. The biggest question at this point is whether or not the team has the pieces necessary to make such trades. While the team could go after Talib and only give up a couple draft picks — day two and three — the Seahawks would likely command a first round pick for Sherman plus much more.

Unlike the Maxwell trade a season before where Philly was dying to rid themselves of the cornerback, neither Talib or Sherman are on the way out of their current team. While Sherman has been a bit of distraction at times, he is still one of the NFL’s best cornerbacks.

That said, his distractive nature along with Talib’s age could give their current teams enough of a reason to trade both players. With Mike Tannenbaum at the helm in Miami, anything could happen. Will the Miami Dolphins make a big splash this offseason, I don’t really know. However, look for them to try their hardest to make such a move happen.
