Those four words are music to Miami Dolphins fans ears and ones that they’ve been longing to hear for too many years. I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself here, but a quick glance at the schedule reveals a wrinkle or two — Buffalo and Baltimore — on the road to a season ending showdown with the Patriots.

All this will hinge on the health of the offensive line, or lack thereof. Also, the general well-being of the entire roster. But it is nearly safe to say that we could be watching games that mean something more than “whose going to be on this coaching staff and roster next year.”

Yesterday’s game against the Rams once again showed the resolve that the coaching staff has instilled and energized the roster with the “never say die” mantra. It would have been so easy to just chalk this one up to a 10 day stay on the west coast being too much for the team and taking them out of their routine but that didn’t happen — well it DID happen for the first 55 minutes!

Please tell me what Ryan Tannehill knew when he entered the huddle for the first play of the Jarvis Landry touchdown drive and states to offensive teammates “deep breath guys, we’re going to win this game…” That is a different quarterback than the one wearing #17 for the past four years.

This is a quarterback that has proper coaching and is allowed to change plays at the line based on his reads/progressions. Do you know what kind of confidence that instills in a player like Tannehill?

Remember what happened to a certain Hall of Fame QB when Jimmy Johnson came in and neutered him and never let him audible? Ryan Tannehill was a pre-med student, he’s not stupid. Let him use his head. Let him relax out there. I think we’re finally seeing that come through.

Once again, we saw an excellent example of this roster being a team. They play as a team. They celebrate as a team. And, based on Jarvis Landry’s touchdown, they score as a team. There were seven aqua jerseys in the endzone on that one. That single touchdown was the epitome of what this season is becoming. It’s actually fun to watch.

After that touchdown I said “OK, two timeouts left. They get a three-and-out from the defense and then they go to work on tying/winning this game.” My wife said: “Why do you let them suck you in every year?” I replied: “This is different.” Different in every way imaginable. I tweeted immediately after the game “To quote the late, great Jack Buck: ‘I don’t believe what I just saw.’”

Different. As in “Meaningful December Football Games” different. Believe it.

Enjoy the ride fans, I think this is going to be fun.
