Mets call up reliever Aardsma

The New York Mets called up right-handed reliever David Aardsma from Class AAA Las Vegas on Saturday.
Right-hander Collin McHugh was optioned to Las Vegas.
Aardsma, 31, has a 1.12 ERA with 11 strikeouts in eight innings with Las Vegas.
Aardsma, a former closer, signed a minor league deal with the Mets in May after opting out of his contract with the Miami Marlins.
Before having Tommy John surgery in 2011, Aardsma had been a closer for the Seattle Mariners. He had a 2.90 ERA with 69 saves combined in 2009 and '10 for Seattle.
