Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco had his suspension reduced from three games to two, and he will serve the suspension Tuesday and Wednesday, the team announced Tuesday.
Mesoraco was suspended for making contact with home-plate umpire Chad Fairchild during a July 30 argument. He then appealed the suspension and continued playing until the league ruled on his appeal.
The Reds have recalled catcher Dioner Navarro from Triple-A Louisville and optioned reliever Logan Ondrusek to Louisville.
Mesoraco, a rookie, is batting .210 with five home runs and 14 RBIs in 52 games. He served as the regular catcher for pitchers Mike Leake and Homer Bailey, and with Bailey starting Tuesday's game, the Reds are starting Ryan Hanigan at catcher.
