After six weeks into an NFL season you should know where your team stacks up. Someone just forgot to tell Chuck Pagano that.
During his press conference this afternoon he was asked about his defense. You know, the defense that is ranked 31st in the league (411 YPG), and gives up 29 points per game (28th). Here is what he had to say.
“There is video evidence we have played good defense. Have to do it for four quarters… Gotta do it for 60 minutes.”
Look Chuck, here is the thing. Any defense can have a few plays each game, but c’mon man.
Chuck Pagano has lost his damn mind. This is the same defense that just let BROCK OSWEILER lead a 4th quarter comeback. Oh, and the one that gave up a play like this.

Just because you have a few good players like Vontae Davis and Mike Adams who make a few good plays every game does not constitute for evidence as “good”. Yes, the young talent on the roster is promising, but again that does not mean they are good.
Far from it.
The Colts are on track to have their worst defensive season under Pagano, who was hailed as a defensive minded guy.
At this point it seems as though Pagano has no idea on how to fix the defense. A trend for almost five full seasons. Throw whatever Chuck saying you want in there, but facts are facts.
And Chuck, this defense is not good. At all. Just look at the numbers.
Against Trevor Simien, Oswiler and Brian Hoyer here is what the Colts gave up. 932 passing yards and a touchdown to interception ratio at 4-2. Not a single one of those quarterbacks are legit starters in this league.
What about the run game?
The Colts are giving up 117 yards per game on the ground, 26th in the league. And if missed tackles and setting the edge were an official stat? You could bet they would be dead last in both.
But remember, the evidence is there according to Chuck. He just fails to see what the tape really shows. A defense that is one of the worst in the league and is not on track to get better this season.
Sorry Chuck, but you are wrong on this one.
