Update: Harrison agreed to a five-year, $55 million extension with the Rangers on Wednesday, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. The deal includes a club option for 2018 that can become a vesting option if Harrison meets certain innings thresholds.
Recommendation: The Rangers rewarded Harrison on Wednesday for his production over the last two seasons, during which the southpaw won 32 games, posted a 3.33 ERA and ate up close to 400 innings. Harrison won a team-high 18 games in 2012, and while he's not necessarily the ace of the staff, there's nothing to suggest his numbers will drop off dramatically this upcoming season. He had offseason Lasik eye surgery, so it's possible Harrison has an even better sense of the strikezone in 2013.
