Maryland freshman forward Micah Thomas will transfer, the school announced on Wednesday.
Thomas, a four-star wing who played at national powerhouse Huntington Prep, committed to Maryland last April, choosing the Terps over Louisville.
“We appreciate Micah’s contributions to our basketball program over the past year,” Maryland head coach Mark Turgeon said in a statement. “We wish him the very best as he continues on with his collegiate career.”
Once he arrived at Maryland, Thomas redshirted during his freshman campaign and did not see any game action over the course of the season.
“I want to thank Coach Turgeon and the staff for providing me an opportunity to play at the University of Maryland,” Thomas said in a statement. “I grew personally and learned a lot both on and off the court. However, I feel it is in my best interest both academically and athletically to pursue another opportunity."
