Miami Marlins first baseman Logan Morrison had hoped to be ready for the start of spring training following September knee surgery. But his recovery has taken a lot longer than expected.
On Sunday, the Marlins placed Morrison on the 60-day disabled list. He won't be eligible to return until May 31.
Morrison's only activity now is low-intensity work on a treadmill. He hopes to begin running on grass this week, according to HardballTalk.com.
Morrison, 25, hit .230 with 11 homers in 93 games for the Marlins last season.
Casey Kotchman will be the Marlins first baseman to start the season.
