Poughkeepsie, N.Y. -- Junior center Adam Kemp and sophomore swingman Chavaughn Lewis combined for 44 points, helping Marist stun Loyola-Maryland 69-64 in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game Sunday at the McCann Center.
Kemp had game highs of 23 points and 13 rebounds for Marist (7-18, 4-10 MAAC), which has won two in a row after losing 13 of 14. Lewis scored 21 points.
Senior forward Erik Etherly had 22 points and seven rebounds for Loyola (17-9, 9-5). Senior guard Robert Olson scored 10 points.
Loyola led 16-10 with 8:53 remaining in the opening half, but Marist mounted a 7-0 run to take a 17-16 lead on Isaiah Morton's 3-pointer with 7:03 to go.
The teams continued to exchange leads over the final few minutes of the half. A 3-pointer by Franz Rassman helped Loyola take a 27-26 lead into the locker room at the break.
Loyola maintained a slim lead through the early part of the second period, but Marist surged ahead at the midway point, taking a 45-40 lead with 10:58 to play.
Olson made a 3-pointer to cut Marist's lead to 55-54 with 5:24 remaining, but the Red Foxes took control with an 8-2 run over the next three minutes.
