The Baltimore Orioles acquired outfielder Michael Morse from the Seattle Mariners on Friday for minor league outfielder Xavier Avery.
The Orioles claimed Morse off waivers earlier this week.
Morse, 31, is batting just .226 with 13 homers and 27 RBI in 283 at-bats this year.
The Orioles hope to get something closer to the Morse who batted .303 with 31 homers and 95 RBI in 2011.
Moving Morse allows the Mariners to get a longer look at outfielders Dustin Ackley and Michael Saunders.
Avery has split the season playing in Class AA and AAA for the Orioles. He hit just .223 during a 32-game stint with the Orioles last year. He is a career .260 hitter in the minors.
