Seattle Mariners reliever George Sherrill is being placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left elbow.
It is the same injury that forced the lefty to shut it down the last month of last season when he was with the Atlanta Braves, according to the Seattle Times.
The club called up Charlie Furbush from Class AAA Tacoma on Friday to take Sherrill's place.
Sherrill, 34, struggled in the spring and that carried over into the regular season. He allowed home runs in each of his two appearances before going on the DL.
