Mariano Rivera: (Knee) Throws From Mound For First Time Since ACL Tear

Update: Rivera (knee) threw from a mound Friday for the first time since suffering a torn ACL in May, MLB.com reports.

Recommendation: Rivera, who made about 25 throws Friday, said afterwards, "I'm feeling good. The rehab has been great; it's been tough, but at the same time, I'm seeing good results." The 42-year-old right-hander has informed Yankees GM Brian Cashman that he intends to return next season rather than let the injury end his career. "I didn't want to go out like that," Rivera said. "I felt like I have something left, and [I should] give it a shot. Why not?"
