Man accused of double murder wants to wear Tony Romo jersey at trial
You’ll see people wearing NFL jerseys at random and sometimes inappropriate places, but nothing is beating Thomas Randolph’s request.
Randolph is facing a trial in Las Vegas for double murder. He is accused of hiring a hitman to kill his sixth wife, then killing the hitman in May of 2008. If that’s not a crazy enough story, during his trial he wants to wear his Tony Romo Dallas Cowboys jersey, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
“Because he’s a Cowboys fan,” Special Public Defender Clark Patrick told the Review-Journal.
Oh. Makes perfect sense then.
The Review-Journal said Randolph didn’t reveal if wearing the Romo jersey is a legal tactic, and it’s hard to figure out what strategy there would be behind it. The request is also unlikely to be granted by the court, the report said.
Randolph, who was charged with the 1986 murder of his second wife but was acquitted, is accused of wanting to kill his sixth wife to collect $400,000 in insurance money according to the Review-Journal. Prosecutors claim Randolph killed alleged hitman Michael James Miller “to eliminate the possibility of anyone ever testifying against him regarding the murder of his wife.”
Romo retired after last season and has joined CBS as an NFL color analyst.
