Pittsburgh Penguins center Evgeni Malkin, Detroit Red Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall and Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith were named the NHL's "Three Stars" for the week ending Dec. 1, the league announced Monday.
Malkin earned "First Star" honors for the second consecutive week after leading all skaters with nine points (three goals, six assists). He helped the Penguins earn seven of a possible eight points. He leads the NHL with 28 assists and ranks second in points with 35.
Kronwall had three multi-point games in leading the Red Wings to three wins in three games. He had two goals and seven assists during a six-game point streak dating to Nov. 21.
Keith is the third star after getting six assists in four games for Chicago, which won all four. He leads all NHL defensemen with 23 assists.
