The Orlando Magic signed free agent forward-center Jason Maxiell. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The 6-foot-7 Maxiell appeared in 72 games for the Detroit Pistons last season, averaging 6.9 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.32 blocks in 24.8 minutes per game.
"We're excited to welcome Jason (Maxiell) and his family to the Magic organization," said Magic general manager Rob Hennigan. "Jason brings an element of experience, toughness and resolve to our roster that we feel will benefit our team."
Maxiell was originally a first-round pick by the Pistons in 2005, and has averaged 6.1 points and 4.4 rebounds in 19.1 minutes through 523 career regular-season games with Detroit.
