Luke Rockhold Off Upcoming Strikeforce Card Due to Injury

UFC Considering Luke Rockhold vs. Vitor Belfort for Later This Year

The upcoming Strikeforce fight card on Nov. 3 has suffered another major blow as middleweight champion Luke Rockhold has been forced off the show due to injury.

Rockhold was slated to defend his title against Lorenz Larkin in the co-main event of the evening, but now has to head back to the sidelines and wait to heal up.

There's been no word if Larkin is expected to remain on the card or not.

The nature of the injury was not revealed, but sources close to the situation confirmed his withdrawal from the show to MMAWeekly.com on Monday. The MMA Corner first reported the injury on Sunday.

Rockhold's injury is the latest hit to the upcoming Strikeforce card set to go down on Nov. 3 in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Daniel Cormier, who is Rockhold's teammate at the American Kickboxing Academy, is expected to fight one final time under the Strikeforce banner on the card. Unfortunately, his original opponent, Frank Mir, also suffered an injury and is now off the show as well.

Since Mir's injury was reported, Strikeforce and Zuffa officials have yet to secure a replacement opponent. With the fight card just three weeks away, time seems to be running short to find a suitable fighter to face Cormier in November.

MMAWeekly.com will have more information on the Strikeforce Nov. 3 fight card as it becomes available.
