Louisville defensive end Lorenzo Mauldin was listed in satisfactory condition in Jewish Hospital after he was injured in a hit-and-run accident on a moped Tuesday morning .
According to witnesses at the scene, Mauldin's moped was struck around 8:45 a.m. on campus by an unidentified vehicle that left the scene, the Louisville Courier-Journal reported. The suspect has yet to be found by police.
Mauldin is listed as a starting defensive end for Saturday's season opener against Ohio University. There was no immediate word on his status for the game.
University spokesman Rocco Gasparro said Mauldin would remain hospitalized overnight as a precautionary measure for continued observation. A Jewish Hospital spokesperson told the Courier-Journal that Mauldin was "conscious and comfortable and indicators are excellent."
Last season, Mauldin started six games and led the Cardinals in sacks with 4.5.
