Longwood halts 5-game skid, beats WVU Tech 95-80

FARMVILLE, Va. (AP) -- Tristan Carey scored 27 points and Karl Ziegler 23 - leading five players into double figures - as Longwood halted a five-game losing streak with a 95-80 defeat of NAIA West Virginia Tech on Wednesday night.

Ziegler tied his career-high in scoring and had a career-best 15 rebounds for his second double-double. Jeylani Dublin added 18 points and a career-high 13 boards for the Lancers (3-6) and Lucas Woodhouse scored 11 and Leron Fisher 10.

Woodhouse also dished 13 assists for his fourth double-double.

Woodhouse and Carey hit 3-pointers to spark an early 10-2 run as the Lancers broke away. Longwood led by as many as 19 in the second half.

Armond Perez scored 24 and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Golden Bears (8-5) and Jauries Thomas scored 17 with nine rebounds. WVU Tech made several runs, closing to 47-41 at halftime, but hit only 10 of 27 free throws.
