Long shot Majestic City wins Santa Anita feature

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) -- Majestic City led all the way to win the $70,000 Big Bear Stakes by a neck over 8-5 favorite Rousing Sermon at Santa Anita on Thursday.

Ridden by Edwin Maldonado, Majestic City ran a mile in 1:35.20 and paid $32.40, $11 and $5 at 15-1 odds. He snapped an 0-for-12 skid as the longest shot in the field of five.

Rousing Sermon returned $3.60 and $2.40, while Drill was another half-length back in third and paid $2.80 to show.

The victory, worth $43,260, increased Majestic City's career earnings to $302,500, with four wins in 16 starts.
