BANGALORE, India (AP) -- In the first soccer match between the countries in nine years, India defeated Pakistan 1-0 in an exhibition game Sunday.
Sports ties between the nations were suspended after the Mumbai terror attack in 2008 that India blamed on militants from Pakistan. A Pakistani cricket team, however, visited India for a one-day series in December 2012.
The soccer game primarily featured under-23 players and was a tuneup for next month's Asian Games at Incheon, South Korea. The lone goal was by Robin Singh in the 44th minute.
The two-match series concludes Wednesday.
