‘Logan Lucky’ Trailer Released

The trailer for “Logan Lucky,” starring Channing Tatum, Adam Driver and Daniel Craig, has been released online.

Directed by Steven Soderbergh from a screenplay by Rebecca Blunt, the comedy film tells the story of two brothers Jimmy (Tatum) and Clyde Logan (Driver), who set out to execute an elaborate robbery during the legendary Coca-Cola 600 race at Charlotte Motor Speedway in an stab to reverse a family curse.

While it’s unclear what that family curse is, the trailer reveals that Jimmy gets the idea of breaking into the vault of Charlotte Motor Speedway after he’s let go from his job as a construction worker for “liability reasons involving insurance.” “I know how they move the money,” Jimmy says in the trailer of how the motorsports complex secures its earnings.

Although the Logan brothers seem to have no experience in burglary, Clyde knows someone who can help them carry out their plan. “The only god who knows anything about blowing up a real bank … is Joe Bang (Craig),” Clyde says in the trailer.

Jimmy and Clyde then visit Joe in prison and tell him about their plan. When Joe reminds them the obvious that he is “incarcerated,” the brothers say that they have a plan to get him out.

As seen in the trailer, the Logan brothers manage to get Joe out of jail. Joe’s freedom, however, doesn’t guarantee that their grand scheme to rob Charlotte Motor Speedway will be successful as well. Watch the trailer below and see how siblings’ lack of experience in larceny may ruin their plan.

In addition to Tatum, Driver and Craig, “Logan Lucky” also stars Seth MacFarlane, Riley Keough, Katie Holmes, Katherine Waterson, Dwight Yoakam, Sebastian Stan, Brian Gleeson, Jack Quaid and Hilary Swank. According to Deadline, six NASCAR stars also appear in non-driver cameo roles in the movie, which was shot at Charlotte Motor Speedway during the actual NASCAR Coca-Cola 600 and the Bank of America 500, as well as at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Variety noted that “Lucky Logan” is a reunion project for Tatum and Soderbergh who have previously worked together in “Haywire,” “Side Effects,” and “Magic Mike.”

“Logan Lucky” opens in theaters on Aug. 18.
