The atmosphere in Washington shifted from electric to annoying in Game 2 of the first-round series between the Capitals and Maple Leafs.

More than 19,000 patrons at the Verizon Center were given cowbells as part of a fan giveaway ahead of Game 2 on Saturday, and as one would expect, they sounded terrible.
To the delight of Maple Leafs fans and the ears of basically everyone, Capitals fans didn’t have much reason to use them early on as Toronto took a 1-0 lead. But after a pair of second-period goals, the noise at the Verizon Center hit deafening levels before Kasperi Kapanen helped put an end to that with his tying goal late in the period.
