CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Martin Smith scored 27 points as Lipscomb used a late string of 3-pointers to surge past Austin Peay for an 88-83 win on Thursday night.
With the game tied 67-67 and under three minutes remaining, Lipscomb (5-6) hit 3-pointers on three consecutive possessions to take a 76-69 lead with 1:20 to play.
Smith began the string of 3s, with J.C. Hampton and Josh Williams hitting the next two. The Bisons then hit 12 of 14 free throws to close the game. Lipscomb finished 13 of 28 from beyond the arc.
J.C. Hampton added 19 points for Lipscomb, while Malcolm Smith was 5 of 7 from the field for 16 points.
Ed Dyson led Austin Peay with 15 points, while Chris Horton and Zavion Williams each had 14. The Governors (5-7) have now lost four of their past five games.
