The Detroit Lions cut veteran tight end Tony Scheffler and signed offensive tackle Barry Richardson.

Scheffler has been sidelined since suffering a concussion against the Green Bay Packers.

Scheffler was acquired via a trade from the Denver Broncos.

Scheffler caught 120 passes for 1,311 yards and eight touchdowns in the past four seasons.

Richardson started every game last season for the St. Louis Rams.

He was selected in the sixth round by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2008.

The Tennessee Titans cut him during the preseason.
