Less than a year after the Detroit Lions acquired wide receiver Mike Thomas, they released him, NFL.com reported Monday.
Thomas caught 158 passes in his first three NFL seasons for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Lions traded a 2014 fifth-round draft pick to the Jaguars to get him at midseason last year. However, Thomas caught only five passes in nine games in 2012.
This preseason, Patrick Edwards and Matt Willis were among the receivers ahead of Thomas on the Lions' depth chart.
Thomas still receieved the $1 million guaranteed from the Lions this year, according to the report.
