Jahvid Best is not ready to return to the playing field yet for the Detroit Lions.
The club has placed the running back on the physically unable to perform list to open training camp, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. That means Best is not eligible to practice until he gets promoted.
Best was shut down last season by the Lions after suffering two concussions. He reportedly suffered one serious concussion while at Cal, bringing into question his viability for the club in the long run.
It will be interesting to see what the Lions do here. A backfield with Best and Mikel Leshoure would be interesting because they possess different skill sets. But Best has to get on the field first.
