The Detroit Lions agreed to contract terms with veteran cornerback Rashean Mathis, ESPN reported Saturday.
Mathis, who turns 33 at the end of the month, was a Pro Bowler in 2006 but has only played a full season once since then. He left the Jacksonville Jaguars in March.
The cornerback position has been a revolving door for the Lions throughout training camp. In Thursday's 24-6 preseason loss to the Cleveland Browns, quarterbacks Brandon Weeden and Jason Campbell combined for 20-for-26 passing for 223 yards with three touchdowns.
The Lions' first team is Ron Bartell and Chris Houston, with Bill Bentley playing nickel. Rookie Darius Slay is close behind Bartell.
