Lightning sign top '12 pick Koekkoek

The Tampa Bay Lightning signed 2012 first-round pick Slater Koekkoek to a three-year contract.
The 10th overall pick last summer, Koekkoek played in 40 games for the Peterborough Petes of the Ontario Hockey League this season before being traded to the Windsor Spitfires on Jan 10.
Koekkoek, a 6-foot-2, 186-pound defenseman, scored six goals and 28 points for the Petes and has an assist and a plus-2 rating for the Spitfires.
Koekkoek is a Manotik, Ontario native who has played in 133 career OHL games, totaling 18 goals and 70 points to go along with 112 penalty minutes.
