Lewis returns to Ravens' active roster but unlikely to play Sunday
Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis was placed on the active roster Wednesday but is not expected to play Sunday in the regular-season finale against Cincinnati.
Lewis returned to practice three weeks ago but hasn't played in a game since he suffered a torn triceps during a loss to Dallas in October. Wednesday's move allows the perennial Pro Bowler to be eligible for the playoffs, NFL.com reported.
"He is progressing really well," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Sunday after a win over the New York Giants. "I'm not saying he couldn't have played the last couple of weeks, but it would've been risky to reinjure it. The fact that there was some patience on Ray's part and our part, it turned out well."
The Ravens also put wide receiver LaQuan Williams on injured reserve.
