Sao Paulo (AFP) - Paris Saint-Germain striker Ezequiel Lavezzi was handed his first start of the World Cup by coach Alejandro Sabella for the round of 16 game against Switzerland on Tuesday.
Lavezzi, deputising for the injured Sergio Aguero, was the only change in Sabella's starting line-up from the Albiceleste's 3-2 group win over Nigeria.
Ahead of the match, Sabella said he had forgiven Lavezzi, 29, for sloshing water on his suit jacket after coming on as a substitute against Nigeria.
Switzerland were unchanged from their 3-0 win over Honduras with the main question being where Xherdan Shaqiri will play.
The "Messi of the Alps" scored all three Swiss goals against Honduras after switching from the wing to a central position.
Their celebrated coach Ottmar Hitzfeld, who has promised to retire after the World Cup, was also dealing with news of the death of his brother Winfried, 81, from leukaemia.
