Other top performers for Portland were Damian Lillard with 23 points and 7 assists, Nicolas Batum with 18 points and 5 rebounds, and Wesley Matthews with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Josh Smith had a strong game for Detroit in the loss, scoring 31 points on 13-17 shooting from the field and 5-6 from the free throw line. He also tallied 7 rebounds. Greg Monroe contributed 17 points and 7 rebounds, Brandon Jennings finished with 15 points and 10 assists, and Andre Drummond put up 13 points and 14 rebounds.
This drops Detroit (11-14) to 0-2 versus Portland on the season.
