Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol has plantar fasciitis in his right foot, the team announced Thursday.
The foot injury was discovered during an MRI exam by foot specialist Dr. Kenneth Jung.
Plantar fasciitis is inflammation of the thick tissue on the bottom of the foot that connects the heal bone to the foot's arch. Often, the only remedy is rest.
Despite the injury, the team said Gasol is probable for Friday night's home game against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Earlier this month, Gasol missed eight games with tendinitis in both knees. He is averaging a career-low 12.6 points and 8.7 rebounds in the 21 games he's played this season.
