Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant said Saturday at the team's Media Day that he has no idea when he will return from his Achilles tendon injury.
Bryant, 35, was confident throughout the offseason that he was ahead of schedule but was much more unsure of his status when questioned about it Saturday.
He repeatedly said he did not know when he would play again when asked if he would make it back some time in the preseason or even the start of the regular season.
When asked if he had any idea when he could return, he said, "Not really," he said. "There is no timetable.
He gave a similar answer when asked about how he was progressing in rehab.
"I don't really know how to answer that question," Bryant said. "I feel good. I don't really have a timetable. I need to get in shape. I'll wait until I'm ready. Then I'll get out there and go."
Bryant tore his left Achilles tendon against the Golden State Warriors in April. Recovering time is typically six to nine months.
