Sacramento Kings power forward DeMarcus Couins did not play Wednesday night against the Chicago Bulls because of he has been diagnosed with a left quad contusion, the team announced.
The diagnosis came the same day that NBA officials said it was not going to suspend Cousins after he hit Milwaukee forward Mike Dunleavy in the head with an elbow Sunday night.
The hit earned Cousins a flagrant 2 foul and an ejection from the Kings' 115-113 loss to the Bucks. It was his fourth ejection this season, though he claimed this week Sunday's incident was unintentional.
Cousins, who suffered the injury prior to the incident with Dunleavy when he was boxed out, leads the team in scoring (17.0 points a game) and rebounding (10.0) this season.
