Jason Kidd, who recently announced his retirement as a player, is pushing to become the Brooklyn Nets head coach, Yahoo! Sports reported.
According to the report, top officials of the Nets organization are taking Kidd's candidacy seriously.
Kidd has already done his homework by identifying a staff of assistant coaches who could help him overcome his lack of head coaching experience.
Pacers assistant coach Brian Shaw is seen as the top candidate for the Nets job, but the Clippers and Nuggets have also shown interest in Shaw.
Mark Jackson, like Kidd a long-time NBA point guard, had never been a coach before he was named the Golden State Warriors' head coach, and Jackson has helped turn the Warriors around in his second season.
