The defending national champion Kentucky Wildcats have had to replace their entire starting lineup from last year and so far this season has struggled to an 11-5 record.
On Thursday, the rebuilding job got a little more difficult when Kentucky freshman Willie Cauley-Stein underwent a minor procedure for an "old injury" to his left.
The 7-footer's status for Saturday's game against Auburn is uncertain, but he is expected to miss a few games at least.
"Due to student privacy laws, no further details will be provided," the school said.
Cauley-Stein is averaging 7.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game.
The Wildcats also have ruled out senior guard Twany Beckham because of a back injury.
