Kennesaw State beats NAIA Truett McConnell 73-54

KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) -- Orlando Coleman scored 21 points and Kennesaw State easily beat NAIA Truett McConnell 73-54 on Tuesday night.

Coleman made 8 of his 11 shots, secured eight rebounds and made five steals for Kennesaw State (3-5). As a team, Kennesaw State's defense forced 24 turnovers - 15 coming off steals.

Kennesaw State led 35-25 at halftime and scored the first 10 points of the second half - with four coming from Coleman dunks. They weren't up by 20 for long, as Truett McConnell shrunk its deficit to 11 points with just over 5 minutes remaining. But Kennesaw State responded with a 9-0 run that included two Yonel Brown 3-pointers.

Brown and Bernard Morena each had 14 points for Kennesaw State.

The contest was an exhibition game for Truett-McConnell. Andretti Loyd scored 17 and Rudy Deaza added 14. The Bears made 43.2 percent of its shots, including seven 3-pointers.
