Jamaal Charles had a big day, paving the way to a rout for the Chiefs over the Redskins, 45-10, in Landover.
Alex Smith accounted for two touchdowns against the Redskins on 14 of 20 passing for 137 yards and no interceptions. In comparison, Robert Griffin III went 12 of 26 with 164 yards passing, one touchdown and one pick for the Redskins.
Charles was a focal point for the Chiefs, running at will on the Redskins for 151 yards on 19 carries with a touchdown while adding two receptions for 8 yards and another score. Dwayne Bowe caught four passes for 69 yards with a touchdown.
The Kansas City defense was the deciding factor in the victory, allowing 65 yards rushing and 223 passing. They consistently put pressure on Griffin III and the Redskins offensive line, racking up six sacks. Thanks to two touchdowns, special teams were terrific.
Redskins tight end Logan Paulsen put up 44 receiving yards and one touchdown.
The Chiefs head to Oakland next week to face off with the Raiders (4-9) while the Redskins travel to Atlanta to play the Falcons (3-10).
