Dropping off: Addison Reed (32nd), Aaron Barrett (50th), Chad Qualls (51st), Tom Wilhelmsen (61st), Tony Cingrani (65th), Rafael Betancourt (68th), Bryan Morris (71st), Dan Otero (72nd), Ryan Madson (74th), Aaron Loup (75th)

o If nothing else, Blue Jays manager John Gibbons deserves credit for always alerting the media when he wants to replace his closer. Cecil lost the spot for a second time last week, this time to a committee apparently headed by Osuna and Delabar. Since the Jays would still love to trade for a closer if they can fit it into their budget, Osuna comes in at No. 35 for now.

o Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon played it smart Friday against the Angels, using closer Carson Smith to face Mike Trout and Albert Pujols in the eighth and letting Rodney go for the save in the ninth. Now we’ll just have to wait and see if it leads to more opportunities for Rodney. McClendon knows that Smith is his best reliever, but that doesn’t mean that Smith can’t be just as valuable pitching the eighth sometimes. With that situation up in the air, I’m placing Smith 28th and Rodney 32nd.
